Brahma

Today I will talk about part two of my blog; the gods of Hinduism. The first I want to talk about is Brahma (Hindi: ब्रह्मा): He belongs to a group of three “main” gods in Hinduism, the triumvirate. These three gods have three different tasks. Brahma is responsible for the creation of the universe, Vishnu for the upkeep and Shiva for the destruction. Brahma created the universe, the world, all objects and all creatures living on it. Today there are only two temples devoted to Brahma. A big difference to the other two gods, who have thousands of temples, that doesn’t mean that they are more important than him, but as his time as the creator is over, the Hindus don’t pay him that much attention. Brahma has four heads and four arms he is also often pictured with a bird. You should not confound Brahma with the Brahman the soul, which is in everybody.
